The 24-Hour Advanced Victim Advocate Training is designed to deepen advocates’ knowledge and enhance their skills across a range of specialized practice areas, including complex trauma, advanced communication and safety planning, trauma-informed leadership, working with diverse survivor populations, suicide prevention, ethical decision-making, team debriefing practices, and multidisciplinary response development.   Over three full days and 10 interactive modules, participants will: Navigate conflict, high‑emotion conversations, and communication repair using trauma‑informed strategies. Deepen understanding of chronic and systemic trauma and apply survivor‑defined advocacy approaches. Assess lethality indicators, strangulation risks, and suicide concerns to create adaptive safety plans. Identify institutional harm, reduce systemic barriers, and apply ethical frameworks across cross‑system dilemmas. Apply trauma‑informed supervision and develop strategies that support resilience and reduce burnout.   Primary Audience: Advocates who have successfully completed the 40-Hour Entry Level Victim Advocate Training. The 40-Hour Entry Level Victim Advocate Training is a state-mandated certificate program (California Penal Code §13835.10). This training is designed to equip advocates with the foundational knowledge and skills to support victims of crime within California’s Victim/Witness Centers.   Over five full days and 18 interactive modules, participants will: Build foundational skills to understand trauma, communicate with empathy, and support survivors in exercising their rights. Learn essential crisis intervention, de‑escalation strategies, and basic safety planning across multiple crime types. Strengthen conscious communication and apply inclusive, culturally responsive, and disability‑inclusive practices. Gain foundational knowledge of the justice system, confidentiality, victim compensation, and California victim‑rights law. The NOVA Advanced Crisis Response Team Training is a 24-hour training pre-approved by the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP)® & D-SAACP.  The course is designed to build upon the essential skills and protocols from the Basic CRT Course. Participants will gain enhanced understanding of team development and leadership, addressing trauma affecting special populations, working with the media and understanding Family and Friends Reception and Reunification Center/Family Assistance Center development. To earn a certificate of completion, students must attend ALL live class days and complete the end of class survey. This is an In-Person Only Course and requires CCVAA Permission to enroll.  This serves as the evaluation and certificate portal only.  To earn a certificate of completion, students must successfully attend the 3 in person class days, participate in the Practice Exercises, and complete the end of class survey. The NOVA Basic Crisis Response Team Training is a 24-hour training pre-approved by the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP)® & D-SAACP.  The course is designed to provide individuals with a comprehensive overview of NOVA’s Crisis Intervention Model.  This is an In-Person Only Course and requires CCVAA Permission to enroll.  This serves as the evaluation and certificate portal only.  To earn a certificate of completion, students must successfully attend the 3 in person class days, participate in the Practice GCI, and complete the end of class survey. REGISTRATION: CCVAA Members - $0 with Coupon Code         Non-Members - $995     COST is FREE: Registration for this training is free for CCVAA Member organizations and training is first come first served. This training is funded by funding awarded by state/federal grant fund(s) to CR 25 0019 012 through the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). Organizations are responsible for covering the cost of travel/lodging for staff attending this training.
